Our Constitution

GREAT SOUTHERN CROSS

Part One – Name

  1. The name of the Organisation shall be The Great Southern Cross Party of Australia (GSC) which name could be adopted by the divisions in the states and territories of Australia.

Part Two – Objectives

  • Dedicated to realise sustainability through decentralisation of industry and population to ensure quality of life for all present and future Australians

  • Dedicated to ensure water and food security through environmentally responsible development

  • Dedicated to create infrastructure and rail corridors to service regional Australia to provide modern services to all Australians.

  • Dedicated to maintain personal freedoms for all Australians subject to the rights of others.

  • Dedicated to offer all Australians the opportunity to realise their full potential.

  • Dedicated to reduce poverty in Australia and to enforce the right to be housed and provided the basic necessities to maintain a dignified life.

  • Dedicated to reinvigorate the manufacture industry to value add to the raw resources export industry.

  • Dedicated to ensure all Australians are afforded adequate medical services in a reasonable time frame.

  • Dedicated to the depoliticisation of all government agencies.

  • Dedicated to full disclosure and accountability in all houses of Parliament.

  • Dedicated to serving the electorate, first and foremost.

Part Three- Powers

The Organisation will have the following powers-

  • To establish in any place within Australia branches of the Organisation and Divisions in the States and Territories.

  • To provide, maintain and manage Headquarters and to furnish, equip and provide relevant supplies.

  • To take steps by personal or written appeals for the purpose of procuring contributions to the funds of the Organisation by donation or by other means such as subscriptions and social occasions.

  • To invest monies of the Organisation not immediately required.

  • To publish literature that promotes the Organisation.

  • To engage and dismiss all paid officers of the Organisation and fix their remuneration and the terms of their employment.

  • To appoint trustees to receive, hold and manage monies and property that belongs to the organization.

Part Four- Membership

  • Any individual that is required to vote in Australia is eligible for enrolment in the organization providing they are not a member of another political party.

  • Any person who resigns their membership shall do so in writing and on receipt of such, the member will cease to participate in any further organization activities.

Part Five- Structure of the Organisation

  • There shall be a Division in every State and Territory consisting of the resident members and control of the affairs of the Division shall be vested in the Council of the Division.

  • There shall be elected annually a President, an Executive and other office bearers and committees for the Division.

Part Six- Federal Council

  • All Division Officers are eligible to nominate and vote in the Federal Council meetings to elect the Federal President, the Federal Vice- President, the Federal Treasurer and the Federal Secretary based on the wishes of the Divisions they represent.

  • The Federal Division will have the powers to alter or enhance the Constitution, formulate by-laws through consultation and a democratic process by the Federal Council.

  • The Federal Division other responsibilities are to promote the Organisational Objectives, to raise and administer funds, to maintain the Federal Secretariat, to coordinate the activities of the Divisions in relation to federal matters.

Note: This Constitution will remain incomplete until such time that the founding membership convenes to contribute further to the outlined Constitution and to formulate the by-laws.
